Industries we Support
Sourcing Lumber with End Uses in Mind
Industry Specific Wood Sourcing
Every industry uses wood differently. Certain species lend themselves to certain applications. Industry specific wood sourcing is essential to not just meet the demands but to ensure less waste. Teak in the boat building world comes to mind immediately. The extreme distance Teak has to travel means high cost so every inch is precious. Buying and handling that Teak requires that the end product be considered every step of the process.
Other species like Sapele and Utile or Maple are readily available in long lengths and are very clear, making them perfect for linear millwork. However despite this sourcing the appropriate lengths is not a straightforward task and requires attention to detail throughout the felling, sawing, and milling process. Our job is to understand these industry use nuances and supply not just the correct species, but the thickness, cut, and grade that best meets the application.
This requires a line of sight throughout the entire supply chain. We buy lumber and plywood with the industry end use in mind in order to ensure that it meets exact customer specifications. Sometimes the only way to fill a custom specification is to go right back to the forest and work with the concession owner and sawmill operators in order to get the perfect log sawn into the the perfect boards. This requires a partner who has a global reach who considers industry specific wood sourcing.
