We Buy to Meet Industry Needs
Every industry uses wood differently. Certain species lend themselves to certain applications. Teak in the boat building world comes to mind immediately. Other species like Sapele and Utile or Maple are readily available in long lengths and are very clear, making them perfect for linear millwork. Our job is to understand these industry use nuances and supply not just the correct species, but the thickness, cut, and grade that best meets the application.
This requires a line of sight throughout the entire supply chain. We buy lumber and plywood with the end use in mind in order to ensure that it meets exact customer specifications. Sometimes the only way to fill a custom specification is to go right back to the forest and work with the concession owner and sawmill operators in order to get the perfect log sawn into the the perfect boards. This requires a partner who has a global reach.
